Omron Pedometers Review

Let's check out the Omron Pedometers . . .

A pedometer basically measures the distance and pace of your walking. Walking is a simple, but important, form of exercise, and getting in a sufficient amount each day is critical to personal fitness.

Omron pedometers come in several different models. Let's take a look at the features and benefits of some of their most popular units.

Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer

The Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer is a handy device that accurately records every step you take, even aerobic steps (defined as 10 minutes of continuous walking at over 60 steps per minute).  It also records the minutes as well as the distance you have covered.

Another feature of this pedometer is that it accounts for the calories you have burned during your workouts.  The device includes a removable belt holder and security strap. With its unique dual-sensor technology, you can even carry it around in your pocket or bag and it will still do the work of counting your steps.

The Omron HJ-112 Digital Premium Pedometer can store records for one week. It is powered by one CR2032 Lithium battery that has an estimated life of 6 months when you use the device for walking 10,000 steps a day.

It also provides an easy-to-read LCD display which also shows the time of day.

Omron HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer

Another of the popular Omron pedometers is the Omron HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer. Just like the HJ-112, it measures your steps, aerobic steps, minutes, calorie consumption and distance.

It also has an easy-to-read and large LCD display with a timepiece.  Instead of just covering 7 days of your exercise history, the HJ-720ITC keeps in its memory your history for up to 42 days.  It is a great way to monitor your progress.

It also separately displays aerobic steps and minutes walked for more than 10 minutes continuously.

The Omron HJ-720ITC comes with a detachable belt holder and security strap.  And the device must be manually shut down at the end of the day but it automatically resets the following day.  It is also powered by one CR2032 Lithium battery with approximately 6 months battery life.

Omron HJ-151 Hip Pedometer

If you are just a beginner, that is, if you are just starting to take walking as an exercise or as a method of staying fit, the Omron Hip Aerobic Pedometer is worth a look.  The device is simple to operate but gives the information that you need.  It records your steps, moderate steps and minutes you took as well as the distance and the calories burned while walking.

Unlike the HJ-112 and the HJ-720ITC, this device should be positioned correctly by clipping it to your belt for it to accurately function.  It must be horizontal to the ground for the unit to function properly.

This sleek monitor is small and can be easily clipped to the belt and would not be a bother while you walk around doing your usual errands or simply doing your walking exercise.  It counts the steps you have taken and simply records the information along with the minutes and calorie consumption for seven days.

Keeping the information handy for one week is helpful when you want to track your progress.  The device automatically resets itself at midnight and is basically set to go the following day.

The HJ-151 also has an easy-to-read LCD display that features a clock and is powered by one CR2032 Lithium battery as well that has an estimated battery life of one year when used for walking 10,000 steps a day.

Any of these Omron pedometers are a good choice if you're seeking a reasonably priced tool to record your every day walks. Consumers cite the accuracy and overall quality of these pedometers from Omron. Highly recommended.
