P90X Review

The P90X Workout Program is an excellent new release by the popular company Beach Body.  It is hosted by personal trainer Tony Horton.

Horton has been in the fitness business for quite some time and he knows exactly what is needed to get to the point and establish a number of helpful tips for those looking to get into great shape. Can he deliver in this exercise DVD and nutrition plan set? Does P90X work?

Well, based on consumer feedback, this is one of the better exercise DVD programs ever produced. People love this system because it gives them results.

At the heart of the program is an advanced training technique known as "muscle confusion." What does this mean?

Essentially, with traditional workouts, such as a regular jogging or aerobic or weight lifting routine, you hit a plateau because your muscles get used to going through the same movements. At this point, results come more slowly, if at all.

But when you train according to the principles of muscle confusion, you are constantly adding new movements and exercise routines. This delivers fresh, challenging stimulation to your primary muscles, involves secondary and tertiary muscles, and pushes your body past plateaus.

The P90X Workout Program is designed to utilize these powerful exercise techniques over the course of 90 days (one cycle). Although 90 days may not seem like a lot of time, with the exercises and nutrition plan included here, 90 days is more than an adequate amount of time to achieve your fitness goal (or at least make significant progress toward your target).

So exactly what do you get with the system? The package includes 13 DVDs, a three-phase nutrition plan, supplement options, and a fitness guide.

The exercise DVDs are well-produced. They provide detailed instruction on cardio, Yoga, stretching, kickboxing, core workouts, and the very overlooked concept of plyometric (jumping for speed in motion) training. Everything you need to achieve your goals is covered.

The nutrition plan is based on three phases, and is designed to work in tandem with the P90X workouts. The nutrition phases progress from fat burning, to energy boosting, to endurance and stamina maximizing.

The focus is not on fad diets; it's based on teaching you how to select the right foods and proper portion sizes to experience lasting success.

With the program, you'll also receive an introductory DVD entitled "How to Bring It," a workout calendar, and access to an online forum that gives you the opportunity to connect with others who are using the system to reach their fitness goals.

Consumer Feedback

What Consumers Like:

- The workouts covered on the exercise DVDs are very challenging. Unless you are a
professional athlete, you won't breeze through these sessions. Expect to work hard.

- Comprehensive, varied workouts. From Yoga to stretching to abdominal work to
strength-building to endurance training, it's all covered here. And because of the muscle confusion concept at the core of it all, none of it is repetitive, so you won't get bored.

- Little exercise equipment required. All you really need is an affordable set of workout
bands and your own body weight to complete the majority of the workouts.

What Consumers Don't Like:

- Because the workouts are so challenging, this is not a program for beginners to
exercise. This is an advanced workout system. You'll need to already be at a decent level of fitness to complete these workouts.

- This does require some time and commitment. The sessions last for about an hour a day, six days a week.

- The suggested nutritional supplement options can get expensive, so you may want to do research into dietary supplements that fit your budget.

Summary

Overall, the P90X Extreme Home Fitness Workout Program wins high marks. These workouts are intense, and they will help you reach your goals, whether you wish to lose weight, get toned, or improve your endurance. Many people have stated that after completing one cycle of the program, they were in the best shape of their lives. Recommended.
